  • The New Look Iraq

    Iraq and the Iraqi populace can be said to be o n the move towards the total erasure of the scourge of war from the country. There are several moves by Iraqis to give the country and all is building a kind of new look n an attempt to bring some measure of rebirth to the country. Efforts are being made by individuals towards the rebuilding of several houses in Iraq and the repair of those houses that were damaged during the Iraqi war.

    The country was plunged into a real cold war, which led to some degree of damage to practically everything in the country. There is no part of the country that was not touched by the repercussion of this full scale war declared on the country by the United Nations and its allied forces. The currency of the country, its economy and practically everything that country could have called something of pride. Several villas in the country were not left untouched.

    So many buildings were razed down by fire. While some other ones were shelled to the ground by mortar bombs. Bullet holes became common sight on several of these houses and villas to eth extent that their sight was even considered as normal. Several factories and other facilities were not let untouched. Farmlands bore deep craters out of the impact of mortar bombs on them. This led to the inability of several Iraqi farmers to get something meaningful out of their highly desired farming profession. Several roads too were badly damaged and the portholes in them were so deep.

    Iraqis are however making moves to bring some similitude of transformation onto the look of things in the country. The rebuilding process is already in progress. Several of the badly hit villas are being repaired. The bullet holes on them are being blocked and they are already taking new looks. Some other buildings too that were either razed down by fire or brought to the ground by mortar shells are being rebuilt. It is hoped that other areas that had been affected by the war too will soon receive some attention and that they will be rebuilt.

    The recent release of 42 million euro to the Iraqi government by the European Union is another determining factor that will help to determine how soon the Iraqi buildings and other facilities can be given the highly desired facelift.

    The money was given to Iraq towards the rebuilding of several sectors in Iraq. The sectors to benefit from this windfall are the education sector, the health sector and several other government institutions. Once these areas are well taken care of, the possibility of Iraq receiving a totally new look is fully in sight. The repair of these areas too will have its own effect on the Iraqi economy. Any positive impact on the Iraqi economy will surely translate to a stronger Iraqi dinar, which will help to make the lives all and sundry in Iraq to be worth living all over again.
