Iraqi Government- Stumbling Block to Iraqi Dinar Growth?
The whole world was greeted with the news announcing the desire of the Iraqi government and its central bank to revaluate and redenominated the Iraqi dinar. The effort is poised towards giving the Iraqi dinar a new identity and a new value. By the time the revaluation exercise finally comes to pass, Iraqis will be able to boast of a stronger currency. The revaluation is being planned in such a way that it will make the Iraqi dinar able to stand beside other currencies of the world. It is believed that once the revaluation exercise is finally implemented, the Iraqi economy will receive some fresh injection of life, which will help in increasing the hope of every Iraqi and bringing some measure of growth and improvement to their lives.
But there is one factor that may end up not making this whole process to be realizable and that is the slow pace with which the Iraqi government handles the affair of things in the country. Iraq had always been known to have a culture of unnecessarily delaying the process of things to the extent that it is becoming very difficult to get the government to respond to issues on time. It doesn’t matter how very important these issues are, the delay culture of the Iraqi government will always supersede any importance that the issue may have. Even issues of national security had been negatively affected by this situation. Funny enough, it doesn’t matter who is responsible for giving these directives; the Iraqi government will still end up delaying the process of things.
This particular factor is capable of slowing down the rate at which the revaluation exercise is implemented by the Iraqi government. Even when the country was under the military dictator; there were several important issues in the constitution of the Iraqi nation, which on a normal day should have been dealt with timely, that were left unattended to. In one word, the Iraqi government doesn’t have the gift of meeting up to deadline.
There are several individuals that are thinking that this delay in implementation that has become part of the ways of life of the Iraqi government is due to some kind of unserious attitude of the Iraqi government towards things in the country.
One factor that will delay the possible revaluation of the Iraqi dinar is this delay culture of the Iraqi government. This means that the Iraqi dinar will remain in its low state for as long as the government is willing to leave it there. It also means that the economy of Iraq will remain in its low state for a long time to come. With a battered economy, the lives of Iraqis will not be able to experience the boost it had hoped for a long period of time now.
Every investor in the Iraqi dinar too will not find this funny at all. A persistently grounded Iraqi dinar will translate to an unyielding investment it may also result into loss of investment due to inflation rate.
