  • Iraqi Government Reformation-How Long?

The present state of leadership in Iraqi is causing some measure of concern the world over. The country made an effort towards rebuilding things by holding an election. But it is something very uninteresting when the whole effort at having an election went down the drain. This was because Iraq lacks enough votes to choose a leader. This situation of things is only making the effort of rebuilding Iraq to be greatly delayed.

In an effort to quicken things up, various external bodies began to make several inputs in how they feel things can be made to move on faster. Some of these external bodies are people from various bodies like the United States and the United Nations. Despite all these external contributions, things are not actually moving well for the Iraqi nation yet.

At the wake of the failed and controversial general election in Iraq, the United States proposed that the present Iraqi prime minister; Mr. al-Maliki should continue with a second time. This is one idea that was strongly opposed by Iraqis. This must have been because of the fact that the present prime minster was not elected to occupy that capacity for a second term.

In an effort to douse the tension that was caused by the news of what the United States has to say about the state of things in the Iraqi leadership, the United Nations came with an idea that both the present prime minister Mr. al-Maliki and the former president and leadership of the opposition party should form a kind of unity government. It is believed that with the formation this unity government, Iraqis will be brought together and they will be able to move things forward again in the country.

This suggestion by the United Nations is the one that is still being considered in Iraq and one can only wait to see if it will amount to anything tangible at the end of the day. If the joint government can be realizable, it means that there will be some kind of power sharing between the two representatives that are made the leaders in Iraq.

This suggestion had been in the pipeline for quite a while now. But no one knows when the final outcome of things will be made known to the public. But the Iraqi government should realize that the longer its final decision take, the longer it will take for the Iraqi dinar to be revaluated. While the government is making up its mind, the Iraqi people will have to endure the hardship they are presently facing.

The truth must be told about the unexpectedly long period of time that the Iraqi government is in the habit of taking before reaching final decisions on any matter. The Iraqi government over time had been known to take practically too long time in making up its time on very important things. This situation is so rampant that Iraq is known internationally not to ever be the country to meet any kind of deadline.
